We are committed to supporting deaf youth overcome social, cultural and economic barriers that hinder their advancement by fighting against deprivation, dependency, poverty and isolation so as to promote the growth of strong and self-reliant individuals and Deaf Communities in Uganda. The organisation operates a free-of-cost adult Learning Centre for the Deaf which provides educational programmes and works with families of the deaf and local communities to facilitate awareness about the deaf.
Our name signifies a commitment to form Links with deaf, hard of hearing, disabled and non-disabled people in Uganda, East Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, optimistic in our endeavours to work towards positive changes with determination to extend our Links World Wide. Central to our work is a desire to strengthen and maintain our networks so that there will be greater understanding and appreciation of not only the Deaf, but all Disabled Persons. The triangular shape in our Logo symbolises connections that bring people together to support the welfare of all disabled children: who will one day become a youth and productive, independent adult. At the top is a disabled child rising from a strong foundation laid by loving parents, families, teachers, friends and communities of well wishers. Encircling the triangle is the Link of Life signifying our Humanity and Connection to one another as World Citizens! |
