Vision Voice 94.8 FM Aids Broadcast.

Vision Voice, an innovation of media company Vision Group, is the English radio station of New Vision, Uganda’s leading daily newspaper. A commercial radio, it tackles issues of national interest and provides deeper analysis of what is happening in Uganda and the world. The radio covers a radius of 200Km from Kampala, its central point, reaching as far as Lira, Mbale, Kisumu (Kenya) and Tanzania.

In this broadcast known as “Cross Country,” senior reporter Michael Wambi interviews special guest: Nassozi Kiyaga, the executive director of Deaf Link Uganda, about the challenges faced by Deaf people in accessing HIV/Aids services in Uganda. This programme is a follow up on Michael’s visit to Deaf Link Uganda premises in Bukoto - Kampala, where he went to meet Deaf youth during their educational session on HIV/Aids taught by Nassozi. Michael had the opportunity of interacting with deaf youth for the first time and was amazed at how quickly they learnt everything about Aids through Ugandan Sign Language. His initial interview with deaf youth and Nassozi was aired on 1st December 2008 to commemorate World AIDS Day. A strong advocate of the Deaf, Nassozi talks about the significance of including them in all national and international HIV programmes, calling upon the government to urgent respond to their needs.
